The shattering of a perfectly crafter exterior and the ripping of a pure white overlay creates the “Blooming Flower of Agony”. The tiered skirt’s outermost layer of white fabric is ripped up and tattered, revealing a blood red layer underneath the visible folds of the dress. That carefully curated ideal can’t be held together by ribbons and cute things anymore; the spell has been broken. A black crinoline is laid bare before all the world to see, the tight rings of hoops resemble a spider’s web that a butterfly can’t hope to escape from. The Juliet sleeves puff out at the shoulder before and flare out at the wrist, the rest of the arm wrapped in fitted fabric; it matches the overall silhouette of the dress, where the extra fabric of the top drapes over the corset, and the skirt has the same gray underneath as the wrist flare. The blindfold, made of black gauze, blocks out the cruel gaze from strangers, but also obstructs the acceptance from friends.
